REVISITING THE LITERARY PAST INDIAN ENGLISH FICTION 1857-1920
REPORT
An intercollegiate student event titled Revisiting the Literary past Indian English Fiction 1857-1920 was conducted by the Department of English on 23rd February 2022. The objective of the programme was
1. To explore the literary past through the lens of the present.
2. To enable the students to explore the area through research and self learning.
3. To develop creativity among students .
4. To have a wider peer group interaction especially with the students from other institutions.
5. To know the Indian past through literature
The event was hosed in the midst of an exhibition covering models, enactments, quiz, singing, charts, posters and games related to the theme of the event.
The event had two segments. (1) Academic Lens (2 ) Cultural lens
Academic lens is the paper presentation session , the best paper was awarded
Cultural Lens is the cultural representation of any literary text of Indian literature from 1857 to 1920.
The event had a special lecture on the thrust area of the event. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Parintha from the Department of English Mangalore University. The lecture was followed by interaction where students raised questions and clarified their doubts .The best gist writing of Speaker’s talk was awarded a prize.
Students from 6 colleges registered for the event. The best paper award was bagged by Ms. Beasant Women’s College and Best cultural lens presentation was awarded to University First Grade College Konaje.
