REMEMBERING ALFRED TENNYSON ---AUGUST 2018
REPORT OF THE EVENT
One day Intercollegiate Seminar on Rediscovering Alfred Tennyson was organised by the Department of English University College Mangalore. The students from 16 colleges participated in the event. Total number of participants was 72. The programme had two segments. One reading Tennyson and three sessions. 1. A special lecture on Tennyson by Prof. Pattabhirama Somayaji 2. Reading Tennyson 3. Visualizing Tennyson. The second session was paper presentation on poetry of Tennyson. The third session was to visually present any of Tennyson’s works. The Best paper and Best Visual presentation was awarded with certificate and cash prize. The students of our college had hosted an exhibition on Victorian Periods beautifully through models, charts etc which won the heart of many. The objective of the programme was to bring the peer group of students together to enhance our students’ learning. The programme was dedicated to Dr. Ammalukutty who was to superannuate in August 2018.
